The cottages are located in secluded countryside, a short distance to the north west of Kirkbymoorside and about a mile from the village of Fadmoor.
If you are travelling eastbound towards Pickering and Scarborough on the A170 road, turn left towards Fadmoor just before entering Kirkbymoorside [this sign post is pictured here, with a larger version in the slide show picture gallery].
Continue north on the countryside lanes until you see a 'Sleightholme Dale Only' sign post, then turn left again.
You will now be driving along the tree-lined single track approach road that leads down the side of the valley.
Select a low gear as you go down the wooded, steep lane to the entrance of the farm - please watch out for horses on all of the country roads in this area, and walkers with dogs.
The entrance is marked by a stone gate post / pillar with 'Sleightholmedale Cottages' marked on it - again, use a low gear as you drive slowly over the cobbled stones in the farm yard.
To make the most of a holiday in the North York Moors having your own transport is a major advantage - however, local bus services regularly run through Kirkbymoorside (about 3 miles away) and Helmsley (about 8 miles away).
Other approximate distances:
Pickering 8 miles ~ ~ Malton 13 miles ~ ~ Thirsk 20 miles ~ ~ York 27 miles
